Kenya Network Information Centre (Kenic), operator of the Kenyan ccTLD .ke, has modified the implementation procedure for second-level domains.
Until December 22, 2017, owners of a .ke domain registered at the third level have the opportunity to register preferentially the .ke equivalent on the second level in the "Grandfathering Launch Phase".
In addition, the Landrush phase allows those who wish to register a specific .ke domain name to secure it at a premium price until December 22. Domain Names with more than one eligible Applicant will proceed to an auction conducted by the registry between the competing Applicants and awarded to the highest bidder.
