This year, BrandShelter proudly celebrates its 15th anniversary. It’s a milestone that marks not just the growth of a company but the collective journey of a team that has shared years of hard work, collaboration, and innovation.
From our humble beginnings as a small team in Zweibrücken to becoming a global leader in domain management and brand protection, BrandShelter’s success has been defined by the passion and expertise of its people. These 15 years are a tribute to our shared history, our valued clients and partners, and an exciting glimpse into the future that lies ahead.
The Early Days: A Vision Takes Shape
BrandShelter was born in 2009 as part of Key-Systems GmbH in Zweibrücken, Germany. Back then, our focus was on domain management—a growing and crucial need for businesses establishing their presence online. The team was small but ambitious, united by a shared goal: to empower brands to protect their digital assets.
“Those early days were about laying the groundwork for something bigger. We had a clear vision, and we knew the importance of building trust with our clients,” recalls Matthias Pons, Head of Customer Success, one of our longest-serving team members.
This determination paid off. Within a few years, BrandShelter expanded internationally, establishing a presence in the United States with a dedicated office in Virginia. Many of the team members from those early days are still with us today, a testament to the strong bonds and shared purpose that have defined our journey.
Expanding Horizons: From Domains to Comprehensive Brand Protection
As the online world evolved, so did BrandShelter. What started as a focus on domain management soon expanded to include brand protection services. This shift allowed us to support businesses in safeguarding not only their domains but also their reputations and intellectual property.
“It’s been amazing to see how far we’ve come. We started with domain management, but we’ve grown into so much more. Today, we’re a full-service provider for brand protection,” says Gary Viadero, Account Director.
Our expertise has continued to evolve, and in recent years, we’ve added advanced monitoring tools to our portfolio. The merger with SafeBrands in 2021 brought exceptional monitoring expertise to our team, further enhancing the services we provide.

The collaboration has not only strengthened our offerings but also created a dynamic, inspiring environment where we learn from each other every day. New Opportunities: Joining Forces with CentralNic and Team Internet Group
A pivotal moment in BrandShelter’s journey came in 2018, when we joined the CentralNic Group (now Team Internet Group). This partnership opened new doors for collaboration, expansion, and innovation. It also brought new colleagues and fresh perspectives into the fold, enriching our team and strengthening our capabilities.
“Becoming part of CentralNic Group was a game-changer. It gave us access to resources and opportunities that allowed us to take BrandShelter to the next level,” reflects Andreas Simon, Head of Software Engineering.
The successful rebranding of BrandShelter in 2023 was another highlight, giving us a fresh identity that reflects our values and ambitions. With this new face, we’ve been able to communicate our vision more clearly to clients and partners while staying true to the essence of who we are.

At the heart of BrandShelter’s success is our team—a group of talented, dedicated professionals who have shared years of growth and collaboration. The merger with SafeBrands and Team Internet has only strengthened this dynamic, bringing together expertise from across Europe and beyond.
“What makes BrandShelter special is the people. Many of us have been here for years, and the relationships we’ve built are what drive us forward,” shares Rebekka Backes, Team Assistant.
